“This is our customer appreciation day and our goal is to make the public aware of all the services that we offer,” Highland Community Hospital Administrator Bryan Maxie said. “We want to give everybody an opportunity to see what we have, what we offer and we also want to thank the public for utilizing our facilities.”

The open house featured free health screenings, health information kiosks and live entertainment. In addition, officers and firefighters with the local police and fire departments were on hand and staff of Rescue 5 and Rescue 7 showed off their air ambulances.

“We also have all our clinics represented in the open house. Basically, any service that you can think of that we offer through the healthcare world is represented here today,” Maxie said the day of the event.

The open house also allowed the public to meet and interact with healthcare providers from Hattiesburg Clinic and Southern Bone and Joint, Maxie said.

“I have only been here for three months so when I came in, I told them my idea on this event and we worked on it to make it happen,” Maxie said. “I hope to host similar events in the future.”

The event attracted over 100 people of all ages.

“It’s good to know that the hospital offers many services to the public,” attendee Brianna Cantrell said. “Everyone here is friendly and I’m having a lot of fun. The live entertainment and free giveaways made this an awesome event.”
