The Pearl River County SPCA will host its Meow-Spooktacular event from Oct. 27 to 31, and feature a special adoption fee of $31 for all cats.

“These cats are very well socialized, they been around children and other pets before,” Pearl River County SPCA Public Relations Manager Maria Diamond said. “All the cats get their exercise everyday and they’re nice, playful cats.”

All the cats are spayed and neutered, up-to-date on their shots including the rabies vaccine and micro chipped.

Currently, there are between 35 and 50 cats in the animal shelter and all are looking for a new home, Diamond said.

The animal shelter also runs other specials throughout the week, such as mature cat Monday where any cat over five years old is $25 off. On Tuesday, it’s tortoiseshell Tuesday, where any tortoiseshell cat is $25 off. On Wednesday, two cats can be adopted for the price of one. On Thursdays, tabby cats are $25 off and Friday is black cat Friday, where any black cat is $25 off.

The regular adoption fee for cats and kittens is $40, which comes with a 30-day health insurance policy, 30-day return policy and a four-pound bag of Science Diet food, Diamond said.

“These are fully healthy cats and we will match a cat with everyone who wants one,” Diamond said. “Whether they’re looking for a playful cat, or a working cat, or a black cat, we will pair you up with the best option.”
