Services for Alphonso Jones, 48, of Picayune Mississippi, who passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2017, will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthews Baptist Church, Picayune, Mississippi.  Pastor Rev. Dr. Michael Kelley will officiate at the service.

Alphonso Jones was born on July 17, 1968, in Greenwood, Mississippi to Flordie M. Goff and the late R. T. Jones. He was raised by his stepfather, Sammie L. Stubbs, who also preceded him in death.  Al grew up in Picayune, Mississippi spending earlier years in the Goodyear Community as a member of St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church. Al graduated from Mississippi Job Corp with Knowledge of Welding and Automobile Mechanic.  He loved fishing and fixing small machinery.  Fishing was his passion.  He always made the people around him smile.  He worked as a mechanic and could fix anything.

Alphonso was called to rest at University Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi on October 2, 2017, after a short battle with diabetes and seizures.  He was preceded in death by his father and stepfather.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories; eleven maternal and paternal siblings, Shirlene (Alphonso) Salary of LaPorte, Indiana, David Stubbs of Ellenton, South Carolina, Robert (Anita) Goff, Jr. of Humble, Texas, Melvina (Jamie) Davis, of Fremont, Ohio, Wade Goff, of Picayune, Mississippi, Charles Jones, of Newton, Mississippi, Angela Fleming of Ellenton, South Carolina, Brian Poole of Phoenix, Arizona, Patrick (Theresa) Goff of Picayune, Mississippi, Tracey (Bobby) Thompkins of Warner Robins, Georgia and Alicia Goff of Picayune, Mississippi; his stepfather, Robert Goff of Picayune, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Picayune Cemetery.  Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
