Last week, investigators drained the pond where a woman’s body was found in early August, and found a couple of items of interest in the subsequent search.
The case started with a call to the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department on Aug. 7, in relation to the woman, later identified as 43-year-old Jodi Wilson, of 15 Bennett Apartment Rd., found floating in the pond, according to previous coverage.
After being pronounced at the scene, her remains were sent to the state medical examiner’s office, which concluded her death was more than likely an act of foul play. As a result of the autopsy, her cause of death was listed as being due to blunt force trauma and or drowning, previous coverage states.
As part of the ongoing investigation, investigators drained the pond Thursday and searched the mud for any evidence they could find. Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said a couple of items of interest were recovered in that search, but declined to provide further details since the investigation is ongoing.
Ogden did say that those items will be sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for analysis as part of an effort to determine if those items have anything to do with the case. The pond has now been turned over to the property owner.
