Funeral Services for Billie Jewel “BJ” Guyton, age 90, of Picayune, Mississippi, who passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 4, 2017, at Roseland Park Baptist Church. Rev. Dan Young will officiate.

Visitation will be Monday, September 4, 2017 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Roseland Park Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, C.R. Guyton; parents, William Albert Carnell and Mossie Jewell Gregory Carnell; brother, Leonard Milton Carnell.

She is survived by her children, William R. Guyton and wife Cindy of Maryville, Tennessee, Janice Guyton Sharp and husband Covington of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Linda Guyton Jopes and husband Sam of Picayune, Mississippi; four granddaughters, Jennifer, Savannah,  Emily, and Ellen; eight great grandchildren, Leah, Carsyn, Anna, Ally, Seth, Holden, Sadie, and Charlie. 

A native of New Albany, Mississippi, she and her husband moved to Picayune in 2004. Affectionately called Ms. Billie, Ms. B.J., Bibbs, Mom, Nan and Nannie, she made many new friends in Picayune through the Daughters of the American Revolution, Pearl River County Republican Women, Historical Society, Friends of Margaret Reed Crosby Memorial Library and Cultural Center and Roseland Park Baptist Church.

A graduate of Blue Mountain College and a member of the Euzelian Society, she taught at Tippah County School in the early 1950s and had a 21 year career as a social worker for the State of Mississippi.
