The Allstate Insurance agency in Picayune was named an Allstate Premier Agency for 2017.
According to a release from Allstate, only 26 percent of the 10,000 agency owners throughout the country receive this designation, which is awarded to agencies that demonstrate “excellence in delivering an accessible, knowledgeable and personal customer experience while achieving outstanding business results.”
The agency is owned by John Pigott, a Picayune native who has worked with Allstate for the past 45 years. He said he began his career with the company as an underwriter working out of the Jackson office for four of those years. Then, he got the opportunity to move back to Picayune as an agent. When that chance came up, he said he couldn’t turn it down because it allowed him to be closer to his parents.
When he began his career, all applications were mailed to the office, and motor vehicle checks typically took three to four weeks to come back. Now, everything is accomplished much faster through the use of computers.
Receiving the prestigious designation to Pigott shows how hard working his staff is.
“We just do our job, I’ll be honest,” Pigott said.
He now has two locations within Pearl River County, one in Picayune located at 915 Highway 43 North, and another in Poplarville located at 4656 Highway 53. Between the two offices he has seven full time staff.
“I’m very lucky that I have good staff,” Pigott said.
His office can handle just about any insurance need, from automobile, home, commercial and life insurance, to IRAs and financial services.
Pigott said he appreciates his agency being named as an Allstate Premier Agency, and the support he has received from the people of Pearl River County.
“It’s been a better career than I ever anticipated,” Pigott said.
Staff of the Picayune office can be reached by calling 601-798-7005 and the Poplarville location can be reached by calling 601-795-2700. Business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by appointment.
