The Poplarville School Board of Trustees held a quick monthly meeting Monday night to start the school year, approving several routine matters.
The Board approved a dual enrollment agreement with Pearl River Community College so students at Poplarville High School can earn college credit.
Superintendent Carl Merritt said he hopes to expand the program in the future to provide students with more opportunities to earn credit before they graduate.
“This is a great benefit to our students,” Merritt said.
The Board also approved a special events agreement with the Poplarville Police Department for football games, which begins Friday, and other after-school events.
In other matters, the Board:
-Approved to advertise that the District has buses for sale.
-Approved a resolution and request for ad valorem taxes, not to exceed the current 55 mills and three service mills to retire debt.
The Board will meet again on Sept. 11 at 6 p.m.
