Two Slidell, La., area women were arrested by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department in July.
Sheriff David Allison said the two women, identified as 27-year-old Jalyssa White of 101 Ned Ave., Slidell, and 26-year-old Brandi L. Bergeron of 702 Mariner Dr., Slidell; were arrested for drug related offenses as a result of the undercover operation.
The operation began due to complaints that the two women had allegedly been selling narcotics in this area, leading investigators to arrange a buy/bust operation on July 15, Allison said.
A meet point was established in the Picayune area where the women would allegedly sell a month’s worth of schedule II narcotic Vyvanse, Allison said. According to the Vyvanse website, the medication is used to treat attention deficit disorder in children and adults and for treatment of a moderate to severe binge eating disorder in adults.
Undercover surveillance was set up at the meet point, and when the suspect vehicle arrived, deputies and investigators moved in to block the vehicle in the parking lot.
Allison said that when the deputies approached the vehicle, the smell of burnt marijuana could be detected. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.
During a search of the vehicle, a schedule III pain medication known as butalbital and a marijuana cigarette were found inside, Allision said.
White was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana and Bergeron was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana, the Sheriff said.
While law enforcement officials conducted the search of the suspect vehicle, White repeatedly asked if it was 2 p.m. After several requests for the time of day, investigators asked why she wanted to know if it was 2 p.m. Allison said she told the investigators she was worried because she had a baby shower to attend that day at that time. White was pregnant at the time of her arrest and missed her baby shower due to being arrested, Allison said.
