Two Picayune residents were arrested with five Jackson County residents for their alleged involvement in drug activity, according to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
The multi-agency roundup took place Tuesday, and led to the arrest of 47-year-old Marcel Graves and 41-year-old Requita Magee, both of Picayune, for the alleged distribution of methamphetamine, the release and Harrison County jail records state. Jackson County Sheriff’s Department Community Liason Marcia Hill said the suspects are being held in the Harrison County Jail.
Five Jackson County residents were also arrested as part of the operation, including Terry “Fathead” Reddix, Sharon Stallone, John Cooley, Darryl Williams, all of Vancleave, and Chris Reddix of Ocean Springs, the release states.
Tuesday’s operation utilized officers from the local, federal and state level to knock on doors in an area of Vancleave known as “The Hill,” while a separate team came to Pearl River County to pick up Magee and Graves, the release states.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said in the release that “The Hill” has been an issue for law enforcement officers in Vancleave for some time, acting as a distribution point where alleged dealers can sell methamphetamine, prescription medication, cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana, the release states.
Stolen goods were also fenced in the area, frequently traded for illegal narcotics, the release alleges. It is believed that the drug supply being distributed in that area originated from Mexico.
“After the case we’ve made today, it’s going to put a stop to a lot of this activity,” Ezell said in the release. “This operation will curtail some of the drug supply in our area.”
Further information about the case will be released by the U.S. Attorney’s office in Gulfport, the release states.
