It’s in my heart to serve the Lord. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at New Hebron Baptist Church. Pastor K. Martin Thomas Jr. will officiate at the services. Visitation will from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the church.

Sister Irene Nixon was born to the late Brother John B. and Sister Ethel B. Nixon on October 21, 1950 in the City of Carriere, Miss. She was a graduate of Pearl River Central High School.

In her early years she entered the work force with several companies, Neco Blanket Factory of Picayune, Stuffed Shirts of Slidell, La., The Ammunition Plant located at the NASA Test Site and Walmart of Picayune.

She was preceded in death by her father, Brother John B. Nixon and a sister, Dorthy Nell Whitehead.

Sister Irene Nixon departed this life graciously Monday night, June 5, 2017. She leaves to cherish many memories her mother, Sister Ethel B. Nixon; two sons: Jefferey L. (Regina) Nixon of Carriere, and Jason G. (Lucretia Noel) Nixon of Hiram, Ga,; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one  sister, Marie Kelly and one brother, Patrick Tyson both of Picayune; one great aunt, Sister Georgia M. Robin of Purvis; two aunts, Sister Fannie L. (Frank) Pickett of Chicago, Ill. and Sister Linda K. Nixon of Carriere; a very special cousin, Sister Diane Robinson of Carriere; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many other relatives and friends.

Interment will be in the New Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, Anchor Lake Rd., Carriere. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
