Two suspects recently arrested by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department were arrested again on new charges. During the operation, several other suspects were also arrested.
Sheriff David Allison said the recent arrest took place June 15, when narcotics detectives and officers with the Mississippi Department of Corrections went to the home of 28-year-old Chance Coleman, located at 26 Billie Coleman Rd., Poplarville to look into complaints of drug activity.
They arrived to find 37-year-old Robert Bellais of 147 Hillview Dr., Poplarville sitting in a vehicle in the yard. When a check of his record was conducted, Bellais was found to have warrants with the sheriff’s department for expired tag, no insurance, driving while license suspended and theft of utilities, Allison said. Bellais was taken into custody for the warrants.
Officers then secured the home and spoke with its numerous occupants, including Chance Coleman, 26-year-old Whitney Collier of 149 Sam Smith Rd., Poplarville, 19-year-old Hickory Coleman of 26 Billie Coleman Rd. and 18-year-old Jamie Dyson of 1523 Ave. G, Bogalusa.
After all of the occupants were detained, a search of the home turned up several types of narcotics and firearms, including methamphetamine, ecstasy, suboxone, Xanax and marijuana, Allison said.
As the search was wrapping up, 28-year-old Bennie Morgan of 132 White Sand Road pulled up to the house. Allison said that a check of his record found he had a warrant with the sheriff’s department for grand larceny, leading to his arrest.
Chance Coleman and Collier were arrested for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, possession of suboxone with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, possession of Xanax with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm.
Hickory Coleman and Dyson were arrested for possession of paraphernalia.
Chance Coleman had recently bonded out of jail prior to this arrest, Allison said.
According to previous coverage, Chance Coleman was arrested on April 21, after deputies checked into previous complaints also alleging drug activity was taking place at the home. After securing a search warrant, a search of the home found Chance Coleman inside with a 17-year-old female along with controlled substances, guns and cash.
He was arrested on that day as a result of the search for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, previous coverage states.
Hickory Coleman was arrested on June 11, for grand larceny after stealing an ATV from a family member, according to previous coverage.
