Two vehicle fatal accident worked by MHP

A two vehicle accident resulted in the death of one person.
According to a release from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the accident occurred Friday at about 5:20 p.m., on Highway 43 near Salem Road.
The accident involved a 2003 blue Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 17 year-old male of Picayune, which was northbound on Highway 43. A 2002 green Toyota Camry leaving Salem Road was struck by the Silverado on the driver’s side.
The driver of the Chevrolet did not report any injuries, but an 18-year-old male passenger of the vehicle from Picayune was transported by a personal vehicle to Slidell Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The driver of the Camry, a 56-year-old female of Picayune was pronounced dead on scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. A 5-year-old male juvenile passenger was air lifted to Forrest General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The crash is still under investigation by MHP and updates will follow as they become available.
