The Pearl River Soccer Club shined during the 2017 Mississippi Soccer Association South District Tournament in nearly each of the seven age groups. Six of the nine teams competing qualified to advance to the Admiral Cup state championship competition. The 12U boys PRSC Warriors, 14U girls PRSC Strikers and 14U boys PRSC Devastators all became South District Champions, advancing to the Admiral Cup, PRSC Director of Marketing Belinda Larson said.

Two teams from the Poplarville Soccer Club also placed in the South District Tournament. PSC’s 19U team came out victorious, earning 1st place as the South District Champions. The 16U team placed 2nd in the South District Championship game.

PRSC sent nine teams to compete against just over 50 other organizations from Picayune, Poplarville, Wiggins, Hattiesburg, Bay Saint Louis, Gulfport, Biloxi, Pascagoula and George and Green counties. Of those nine teams, six will advance to the Admiral Cup, the state championship in Clinton, Larson said.

To qualify for the Admiral Cup, teams in the 10U and 12U brackets had to finish in the top four, a task which four of the six PRSC teams competing in these age groups accomplished. In the older age groups, only the top two teams advanced to the Admiral Cup, which two of the three PRSC teams also accomplished, Larson said.

The Admiral Cup will take place in Clinton from May 6-7.
