A Pearl River County man wanted by the U.S. Marshal Service for failure to appear to court proceedings regarding a conspiracy to possess methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine was found in Veracruz, Mexico on Friday.
Carl Hodge, Jr., 36, of Nicholson, was released from federal custody on bond after his initial arrest in April 2016, a press release from the U.S. Marshals Service states.
Hodge is also wanted by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office for felony charges, the release states.
According to previous Item coverage in May of 2016, Hodge was wanted by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department for the felony charge of receiving stolen property.
On April 1 of that year, the owner of B&C Small Engine reported a burglary involving the theft of $27,000 worth of merchandise, previous coverage states.
Investigation at the time of the incident showed Hodge received the majority of the stolen property, and other stolen property from Ascension Parish and other areas in Louisiana, according to previous coverage.
Investigators with the U.S. Marshals Service, with assistance from Pearl River County and St. Tammany Parish, discovered Hodge was living with a family in Mexico. Mexican officials located him on March 24 without incident and deported him to the U.S. on March 25, the release states.
Hodge is scheduled to have an initial appearance in federal court in Houston, before being extradited to Mississippi, according to the release.
