Farm Bureau in Poplarville has a new insurance agent, Poplarville native Crisper Stanford.
Stanford was born and raised in Poplarville, entering this world at the Pearl River County Hospital and Nursing Home. His diverse background in the casino industry and working with musical acts give him a unique perspective in dealing with people. In his office memorabilia surrounds him from his previous careers, each entailing an interesting story.
Stanford was the director of entertainment for a number of casinos on the Gulf Coast and is on the Board of Directors for the Better Life Foundation, an organization associated with regionally well known band 3 Doors Down. After leaving the gaming industry, Stanford put his nursing degree to use and took over as a nursing home administrator. Stanford said he also served in the National Guard for eight years in the 90s.
Earlier this month, he filled a vacancy at the Poplarville Farm Bureau office that was empty for 18 months. What he likes most about working with the Farm Bureau team is the fact that the company is Mississippi based.
To him, his experience in those service industries provides him an edge to help families find the perfect insurance plans.
Of all the preparations in life, Stanford feels is the most important is life insurance. That’s because while many people don’t have to file a claim on their home or automobile insurance, life insurance is a different matter.
“I guarantee you will use life insurance,” Stanford said.
It’s that peace of mind that Stanford said will help families get through a tough time in life.
In his younger days, he said he couldn’t wait to leave Pearl River County and see the world. But when he did, all he could think about was coming back home to Poplarville.
It’s the small town feel that Stanford likes most about Poplarville. He said that if someone becomes stranded here, more than likely someone will come along and offer assistance.
With Stanford now on the team, he plans to help Farm Bureau become more involved in Poplarville by sponsoring teams, holding community events and essentially becoming a part of helping the community.
To kick off that effort, a member appreciation day will be held on April 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where hamburgers, hot dogs and ice cream will be served.
“I left a good job to come home because I believe in the company,” Stanford said.
