Mr. Jimmie L. Hathorn, 72, of Picayune, Miss, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 21, 2017.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, where Rev. Donald L. Parker serves as the Pastor.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.
Burial will be at the McNeil Cemetery in McNeil, Miss. Rev. Eddie C. Jones will officiate the services.
Jimmie was born on June 14, 1944, the fourth of ten children, and raised in McNeil, Miss. He joined the Little Zion Travelers Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Alex Holloway. Affectionately known as “J.L.”, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Linda Louise Moran on March 31, 1967.  The couple was blessed with five children during their 47 year union. He was employed as a truck driver for CRESS Trucking Inc.  He was a hardworking man and a great provider.  He had a big heart and spread his generosity among family and friends.  He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him
He was preceded in death by his parents, L. D Jefferson and Mrs. Helen Jefferson; his wife, Linda “Lynn” Graves; one sister, Earline Singleton; one brother, Luther Jones; and two grandchildren, Matthew Graves Jr. & Zekeria Michelle McCann.
Left to cherish many fond memories are his five children, Gerald (Jacklyn) Graves, Melissa (Keith) Clark, LaWanda Graves, Jimmy Graves, Jr. and Matthew Graves, all of Picayune, Miss.; three sisters, Jurline Washington and Aretha Carter of Picayune, Miss. and Willean Jones of Pontiac, Mich.;  five brothers, Jerry (Candance) Jones, Sr., Rev. Eddie C. (Barbara) Jones, Roy L. Jones, Willie (Mary) Jefferson, and Robert Earl Jefferson; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins and close friends.
