A four-vehicle accident along Highway 11 Thursday evening sent five people to the hospital, but no charges were pressed.
Trooper Chase Elkins with the Mississippi Highway Patrol said the accident occurred Thursday just before 5 p.m. along Highway 11 about a quarter mile from the entrance of Hide-A-Way Lake. At that time, two vehicles were stopped in the northbound lane of the highway when a third northbound vehicle impacted both vehicles, pushing one to the side of the road.
After impacting the second vehicle, the third vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and impacted a fourth vehicle head-on. Elkins said four occupants in the southbound vehicle were transported to Highland Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that impacted all other vehicles was transported by helicopter to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg for treatment of severe injuries.
Elkins said no arrests were made in relation to the accident and expects the cause of the accident to be listed as inattentive driver.
