local 4-H Community group is making preparations to hold a Community

Easter Dinner for families in need of a hot meal.

The service this group of students and their families has given to the Poplarville community is invaluable. While this is their first community Easter dinner, the group has organized other events in the past that provided meals to over 200 people.

There’s nothing like a warm, home-cooked meal to make a person feel appreciated and welcomed.

With a bountiful collection of home-style meals, the event is more like a large family gathering than a service experience.

While the hours can be cumbersome, these students never complain and are always coming up with new ways to give back.

The efforts of this group go above and beyond to help all of the sometimes forgotten members of the community.

All year they hold fundraisers and ask neighbors and friends for donations so that they can give this kind offering to those around them.

For those that cannot attend due to illness or any other inhibiting factor, the students and their families will deliver a meal to their door.

That is just one step further to ensure everyone has a delicious meal.

The students in this 4-H Community Club are instilled with the empathy, accountability, responsibility and teamwork of their mentors. Through that encouragement, they have a passion and a drive of their own to host these events.

It’s efforts like these, and other community dinners or soup kitchens, around the county that remind us to share our blessings with those around us.

We commend  of these students who, at such a young age, are using their skills and resources to make the community a more inclusive and welcoming place to live.
