A couple of administrators in the Pearl River County School District were recognized during Monday’s school board meeting for their outstanding efforts to better the district.
Tara White was recognized as the 2016-17 Director of the Year for the Pearl River County School District.
White currently serves as assistant principal at Pearl River Central High School and the director of activities for the district.
“We have some outstanding administrators in our district and we are proud to recognize those that go above and beyond,” Melissa Holston, assistant superintendent, said.
Superintendent Alan Lumpkin was absent from Monday’s meeting due to a family emergency. Holston filled in for Lumpkin during Monday’s meeting.
Dr. Lori Burkett, PRCMS principal, was recognized as the 2016-17 Administrator of the Year for the Pearl River County School District.
“Dr. Burkett has served in the Blue Devils family for eight years. She has successfully led our middle school to an A level school,” Holston said.
The two award-winning administrators also received a plaque they can put at the top of their classroom doorframe and also a banner, which will hang on the fence at the front of the District’s central office.
“Thank you both for your leadership and everything you do for our students and school,” Holston said.
Additional matters discussed in Monday’s meeting will be covered in Wednesday’s Item.
