Investigators with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department are searching for a person of interest in relation to a shooting that took place Tuesday morning in the Nicholson area.
Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said the shooting was reported at 11:52 Tuesday morning, reporting that a white male had been shot in the area of 31 Emmett Meitzler Road.
The suspect was said to have fled on foot shortly after the shooting. Ogden said the department is looking for 20-year-old Gerald R. Keaton as a person of interest. He is described as a black male, standing five feet 10 inches and weighing 145 pounds.
Ogden said he could not comment on how many shots were fired or the identity of the victim at press time, but did say that the incident appeared to be drug related.
He also said that Tuesday’s incident does not appear to be tied to a shooting that took place off of Highway 43 North on Friday.
The victim was last listed as being in stable condition.
Anyone with information about the shooting or the whereabouts of Keaton is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 601-795-3050 or 601-795-2241.
