Mrs. Emma Henry Smith was born on June 11, 1923 in Sandy Hook, Miss. to the late Mose and Willie Crumedy. Sis. Emma was married to the late David Henry. To this union was twelve children.
Sis. Emma was united with Green Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A.W. Parker. Later under the leaderships of Rev. R.C. Wilkes, Rev. Sim Poole, Jr., and currently Rev. Joey Mark. She served as treasurer for the Education Fund of the church. She was the owner of Emma’s Café and a faithful member of Sunday School and Church until her health began to fail.
On February 10, 2017, an angel visited her at her home and took her to another home not made by man.
Mrs. Emma Henry Smith was preceded in death by five sons, David Lee Henry, Jerry Henry, Eddie D. Henry, Joseph Henry, and Rev. John L. Henry.
Mrs. Emma Smith leaves to cherish her precious memories to eight loving and devoted children. Four sons, L.Z. Henry of Jackson, Miss., Harry Henry of Poplarville, Miss., Leroy (Debra) Henry of Bogalusa, La., and Curtis (Janice) Smith of Slidell, La.  Four daughters, Lee Bertha Poole, Emma Williams, Everlean Sharpe, and Carrie (Lee) Percy all of Poplarville, Miss. She loved all of her grandchildren, but a special thanks to her granddaughter Jancie Bolton who helped as one of her caregivers. She had 42 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends that are left to cherish her precious memories.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Hart’s Chapel Baptist Church where Rev. George Tillman is the pastor. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1:00 p.m. Eulogy will be done by Pastor Joey Mark. Under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home, Picayune, Miss.
