Visitation services will be held Friday, February 24, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, who went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Highland Community Hospital.
Brother Alcus Dixon, Sr., 83, was born August 18, 1934 to the late Rev. Carl and Vernell Jefferson Dixon in Fernwood, Miss. He was one of eleven children who grew up understanding the need to work hard and help others. While in Magnolia, he worked for a lumber company before relocating to Picayune. He was employed at The Cornerstone for over 35 years and Crosby Memorial Hospital for a number of years.  He was an active member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church currently under the leadership of Pastor Donald L. Parker.
For fun, his daily job at The Cornerstone, also the singing group he belongs to called “The Brumfield Gospel Singers” for over 20 years and the last member of the Picayune Travelers. His favorite song to sing is “While I’m on this Christian Journey.”
Preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Brenda Dixon; one son, Anthony Dixon; one brother, Carl Lee Dixon Jr.; two sisters, Charlene Griffin and Wilma Jean Holloway.
His precious memories will be cherished by his loving and devoted children, Emma Washington-Hall, Loretta Woodard-Thomas, Rosa l. Clark, Robert (Renee) Dixon and Alcus Dixon Jr.; four brothers; Clifton Harvey, Marsh Edward Dixon, Jerry Dixon and Lawrence Dixon; three sisters, Annette Williams, Betty Jean Varnado and Lillie Cook;  8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and dear friends.
You’ll never be forgotten. The deeds you’ve left behind will live on each day.
Interment will be in the Dixon Family Cemetery in Magnolia, MS at a later date. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
