Narcotics detectives with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department arrested several suspects on drug related offenses in three cases.
One case began as an investigation into information on Dec. 5, that two individuals wanted for various violations and had been on the run for some time were in the area. Sheriff David Allison said those individuals were identified as 38-year-old Shana D. Carlisle of 833 A. Highway 26, Poplarville and 19-year-old Javaze K. “Buddy” Bowden of 10 Moore Road, Poplarville.
The information alleged that both suspects were in a red Mustang, on their way to Bowden’s home. Allison said that saturation patrols located the vehicle and boxed it in at a local parking lot. The investigators then spoke with Carlisle, and a passenger of the vehicle, identified as 41-year-old Karen Odom of 1479 Dupont Harts Chapel Road in Poplarville.
Carlisle was taken into custody without incident on the outstanding warrant. Allison said that a search of the vehicle found scales, syringes, a spoon, plastic bag and some marijuana. A search of the sheriff department’s database found that Odom also had a warrant for speeding and an indictment for fraud.
Carlisle was arrested for the outstanding warrant, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, while Odom was arrested for the fraud indictment, the speeding warrant, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
The investigators then went to Javaze’s home in an attempt to locate him. Allison said that numerous attempts to contact him in the home were unsuccessful, even though the team had information he was home at the time.
A deputy with a K-9 officer was called to the scene. The deputy, Glenn Agnelly, and his K-9 Ace, led a search of the home, that eventually found Javaze hiding under a large pile of debris in a bedroom closet. Javaze was taken into custody for the outstanding warrant.
“Glenn Agnelly and Ace did a great job in apprehending the suspect,” Allison said.
In a separate case worked on Dec. 21, narcotics investigators conducted a stop on a vehicle for careless driving, finding 39-year-old Karen Wadell of 183 Elouise Street at the wheel. While working the stop, they determined she had an outstanding warrant for failure to abide by a drug court order. She was booked on the warrant, and also cited for careless driving.
That same day deputies checked into a separate case concerning complaints of alleged drug activity at 1300 Ausborn Road in Picayune. Allison said the deputies spoke with the resident of the home, 40-year-old Bobbie Jo Phelps, discovering he had a warrant for failure to appear. While speaking with Phelps, the deputies noticed several people in the home were trying to hide from the law enforcement officers. The other suspects were detained and a search was conducted, finding Phelps was in possession of hydrocodone and a firearm.
Richard Blakemann, 31, with an unknown address, who was found in the living room, had an outstanding warrant for DUI, Allison said. He was taken into custody for the warrant.
Allison said 31-year-old Justin Magee, who also has an unknown address, was hiding in a bathroom. Magee had warrants out for his arrest for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and domestic violence. He was taken into custody on the warrants.
Phelps was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a failure to appear warrant.
