Christmas closings: Shopping should be taken care of prior to the holidays

In preparation of Santa Claus’ arrival, many local businesses and government offices will be closing early this week.
All county and city offices in both Picayune and Poplarville will be closed on Friday and will not reopen until Tuesday, Dec. 27.
Those that use the Picayune Drug Co. pharmacy will have a chance to get what they need on Christmas Eve, because the business will be open during normal business hours. However, they will be closed on Christmas Day, the day after and New Years Day. City Rexall Drugs will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve, closed on Christmas Day and will resume normal business hours on Dec. 26. The business be open during its normal hours on New Years Eve.
Fred’s Westside Pharmacy in Picayune will close at 2 p.m. Christmas Eve and open for normal business hours on Monday, Dec. 26. New Years hours have not been set yet. Fred’s in Poplarville will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day.
Rite Aid customers can pick up pharmacy needs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve. However, the business will be closed on Christmas Day. Rite Aid pharmacy will resume normal business hours on New Years Eve, but will close at 5 p.m. on New Years Day.
CVS and Walgreens pharmacies will be closed on Christmas Day, but will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Walgreens operating hours have been extended to 7 a.m. to midnight from Dec. 22-24.
Boone’s Pharmacy in Poplarville will be closed on Christmas Eve and day.
Picayune and Poplarville residents will need to get their grocery shopping done prior to Christmas Day. Claiborne Hill will be open during normal hours Christmas Eve, but closed on Christmas Day. However, the store will be open during normal hours on New Years Eve and Day.
Both Winn Dixie locations in Picayune will be closed on Christmas Day, but open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Ramey’s in Poplarville will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will not reopen until Monday.
The Margaret Reed Crosby Memorial Library and the Poplarville Public Library will be open today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will resume normal business hours on Tuesday.
