For the second year in a row, local models will strut the runway in the latest fashion and accessories from some of Picayune’s boutiques.
This year’s Fashion Frenzy event is being co-hosted by Picayune Main Street and the Krewe of the Pearl.
Jo Scheel, assistant to the director of Picayune Main Street, said last year’s event was such a success the Board decided to host the fashion event again.
“The purpose is to showcase our local businesses,” Scheel said. “Everyone participating is a local resident and it lets people see the things business owners have in their stores.”
The event will be held this Saturday and will also include an appearance by Picayune Mayor Ed Pinero who will welcome everyone and provide an update regarding the city, Scheel said.
This year’s emcees will be Steve McDonald, Martha Ford and Eileen Baker.
Special guests include the 2017 Krewe of the Pearl King and Queen, Victor and Carmen Leon as well as 2016’s Ms. Mississippi Senior America Trina Shelton.
This year’s models include: Shelton, Tina Stockstill, Joyce Makovy, Amanda Farmer, Molly Stover, Colt Craft, Harper Bachman, Braelyn Spell, Ella Spell, David Baker, Kiley Whitfield, Jewlia Ann, Cole Arthur and Johnny Nieman.
Participating merchants include: April’s of Picayune, Barze´ Place Antiques and Collectibles Mall, Bags and Bows, Bonnie Blue Boutique, Bubbles and Bliss, Crystal Gallery, Fly Boutique, Glass Porch, Gipson’s House Antiques, MeLinda’s Fine Gifts, Roes and Racks Outdoor and Ruby Ribbon.
Entertainment will be provided by David Delcambre, and Picayune Memorial High School senior Miriam Howell.
Two surprise guests from the Krewe of the Pearl will also be in attendance, Scheel said.
“We want everyone to have a good time filled with music, laughter and good food,” Scheel said.
Funds raised from the event will benefit both Main Street and Krewe of the Pearl, Scheel added.
Fashion Frenzy will be held Saturday at Southern Char Steakhouse, located at 210 West Canal, from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost per ticket is $35, which includes a meal consisting of prime rib, boiled shrimp, steamed green beans, poppers, pistolettes and bread pudding.
