Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s officers arrested 28 year-old Drew Daniel Bourgeois, also known as “Creep,” Thursday night for the alleged murder of Jeremy Paul Fountain, 35.
The Waveland Police Department issued an arrest warrant Thursday for Bourgeois after investigations linked him to the homicide.
Fountain’s badly decomposed remains were found in the Shoreline Park area of Waveland on June 12, according to previous coverage.
Hancock County Coroner Jim Faulk confirmed the identity of the body earlier this week.
Bourgeois is facing charges in Jefferson Parish for possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to a press release from Waveland Police Department Chief David Allen. He is also being held for a warrant issued by Waveland Police Department.
“The murder of Jeremy Fountain is still an active investigation and we are still encouraging anyone with information regarding the crime to contact the Waveland Police Department,” said Allen.
Allen previously announced they were working with the New Orleans Police Department’s Homicide Division to investigate the death because of a possible connection with another homicide victim from the same area.
“The death of Mr. Fountain is related to the recent homicide of Matthew Spooner, who was found dead in New Orleans,” said Allen in a press release issued on July 14.
Fountain and Spooner have ties to the Picayune area, according to previous coverage.
Spooner, 35, was shot and killed in the 2100 block of N. Miro Street in New Orleans July 6, said New Orleans Police Department Senior Public Information Officer Dawne Massey.
A press release from NOPD states they received a call about a shooting in the 2100 block of N. Miro Street in New Orleans around 1:12 a.m. that day. NOPD officers found an unconscious man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced at the scene, the release states.
NOPD Detective Robert Barrere is leading the homicide investigation.
The Times-Picayune reported Tuesday that Spooner recently left the Simon City Royals gang to form the Sip City Royals gang in an effort to promote charity and build the community.
