Wayne (Poppy) was born in Jackson, MS on May 19,1953 to L.C. and Lovie Barfield. Poppy left us on March 4th, 2015 to be with his Lord and Savior with a smile on his face!
He was retired from the Canadian National Railway after 38 years. He was an active member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, MS.
Wayne was preceded in death by both parents and two half sisters.
Survivors include wife Diane Griffith Barfield, daughter Christie Barfield Pinero and her husband Ed Pinero of Picayune, MS; the love of his life grandchildren Alyssa, Rylan and Cole. Brother Terry Barfield and his wife Susan of Madison, MS. Stepsons Kip Griffith of Flora, MS and Dr. Jim Griffith of Atlanta, GA. Nephew Kenny Willoughby and wife Lisa of Madison, MS.
Visitation will be Friday, March 6th at Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Parkway Cemetery on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, MS.
