Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Matthew Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Michael Kelley will officiate at the services.
Ruth Bedford Dean, was born in the little town of Oliver, Georgia on July 11, 1943. Ruth departed this life on February 18, 2015 at Forest General Hospital in Picayune, Mississippi.
She accepted Christ at an early age in Yalaha, Florida and was baptized under the leadership of Bishop Matthew at the Christ of God, Faith Church. Ruth relocated to Picayune and united with St. Matthew Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Joey Marks. Ruth later served under Rev. Michael Kelly where she was a member of the choirs and usher board until her health failed. Ruth enjoyed working for the Lord.
Ruth met the man of her dreams, George Dean. Ruth said, it was love at first sight. On July 10, 1981, in Yalaha, Florida, they vowed their love to each other and to God.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; Richard W. and Mary Warren Bedford; mother and father-in-law, Mitchell and Mae Ella Dean; brother, Richard Bedford; sister, Allena Todd; brother-in-law, Mitchell E. Dean; sister-in-law, Betty Jean Dean; and son-in-law, Donald Hawkins.
Ruth leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, George Dean; one son, Timothy Levent; one step-daughter, Carla Hawkins; five grandchildren, Aaron Warren, Latoya (Robert) Johnson, Zipporha (David) Phillips and Cariana Hawkins; and three great-grandchildren, Allen Kensey, Romoni Johnson, and Xavier Phillips; three sisters, Ola Mae Vaughn, Willie Mae (Joe) Knight and Virgina (Lester) Felder; two brothers, Howard (Mary) Bedford and Thomas (Cindy) Bedford; two sisters-in-laws, Mary Ownes and Hattie Mae Smith; one brother-in-law, Willie C (Dianne) Dean; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Picayune Cemetery.
