Pearl River Community College is hosting a Lunch and Learn event on Tuesday, March 3, where people can learn more about the business industry from a professional.

The guest speaker will be Better Business Bureau CEO John O’Hara, who will speak about various topics, including how to avoid making common business mistakes and how to gain the trust of consumers, PRCC’s Director of Institutional Research Brenda Wells said.

“This PRCC sponsored event focuses primarily on issues pertinent to local businesses as well as economic and community development,” Wells said.

The session begins at 11:30 a.m. and will be held in the West Conference Room of the Olivia Bender Cafeteria.

The session is open to the public, and lunch will be provided at $7 for members of the Poplarville Chamber of Commerce and $10 for non-chamber members.

For those who can’t make this event, Wells said there are three other sessions lined up for this year.

On June 2, the guest speaker will be Lara Bowman from the Instructor Center for Technology Outreach at MSU, who will talk about mobile commerce.

On September 1, Community and Economic Development Specialist Rachel Carter will talk about business in Poplarville.

On November 3, Director of the Trent Lott National Center at USM Dr. Shannon Campbell will talk about the economic workforce and development trends that influence small businesses.

Wells encourages local business owners to attend the events.
