This week two supervisors at the Picayune Police Department were honored for their support and efforts to work with members of the National Guard and Army Reserve.
Tuesday, Phil Mullor with Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve presented Picayune Police Chief Bryan Dawsey and Capt. James Bolton with plaques recognizing them for their support of the military by being “Patriotic Employers.”
Mullor said they were nominated by one of their staff, who is a soldier and police officer.
Awards are provided to employers after they are nominated by employees. Once the agency receives a nomination it is sent to the Department of Defense where it is taken into consideration. The DOD is the agency that determines who receives the awards, Mullor said.
Dawsey said that several current and former members of the Guard or Reserve are currently employed with his department, and he finds them to be some of his best officers.
“They do a fine job. I’m proud of them,” Dawsey said. “The Picayune Police Department will always support our military members and do so with pride. It takes a special person to do what we and they do.”
Mullor retired from law enforcement after 30 years of service, and is now a regional representative for ESGR.
The organization was founded in the 1970s to dissolve conflicts between employers and employees concerning the employee’s responsibility to serve their country and their need for continued employment.
