Sanford

According to a previous Item story, on Nov. 20, 2014, 50-year-old Teresa Spiers was killed in a two-car accident on I-59 near the South Picayune exit. She was the passenger of a vehicle driven by 51-year-old Walter Dewayne Sanford of 12 Sanford and Son Road.
As mandated by state law, blood was drawn from Sanford at the time of the accident and sent to the Mississippi crime lab for testing, Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri stated in the previous Item story.
On Jan. 6, the Picayune Police Department received the results of Sanford’s blood from the crime lab, Magri said.
“The results showed that at the time of the accident, Sanford’s blood alcohol level was .231,” Magri said, “which is almost three times the legal limit of .08 in the state of Mississippi.”
An arrest warrant has been issued for Sanford’s arrest, Magri said, for driving under the influence and causing the death of another.
“At this time,” Magri said. “Officers and detectives have checked numerous residences in attempts to locate Sanford.”
Sanford is still at large, Magri said.
If anyone has any information about Sanford’s whereabouts, they are asked to notify the Picayune Police Department at 601-798-7411 or anonymously by calling Pearl River County Crimestoppers at 601-799-2583 (CLUE).
