At approximately 9:05 a.m. Wednesday morning, officers responded to a call concerning multiple gunshots being fired in the area of North Jackson off of East Canal, said Picayune Police Department’s Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri.

Patrols were sent to search the area where the shots were heard, but found nothing; not until the male victim from the shooting drove to the police department and told officers that a male subject shot at his car from a distance at Third Street and North Jackson. When he spoke to police officers, the victim described the suspect, who was later identified as 27-year-old Jaron Stubbs of 400 N. Abrams Ave. in Picayune.

The victim said the male suspect fired numerous rounds into his vehicle’s passenger door with what appeared to be an assault rifle.

Once officers and detectives learned of the location, they found that the victim’s car was shot once, and stray bullets from the rifle struck three houses in the area, Magri said.

At this time, officers and detectives are searching for the suspect. The suspect is wanted for aggravated assault and three counts of shooting into a dwelling. Officers checked several residences tied to the suspect, but have been unable to locate him at press time.

Magri asks anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to call the police department at (601) 798-7411.
