Beloved sister, mother and grandmother, Dorothy Eloise Asher Rigby, 89, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri (formerly of Picayune), passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Mrs. Rigby was born March 12, 1925 in Logtown, Mississippi. She was of the Baptist faith and had retired as a clothing store manager. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, taking great pride and developing amazing skill in serving her family and loved ones in ways that would seem mere drudgery for some. She loved sewing, cooking, puzzles and was an avid reader.
On March 12, 1944, she married Harry L. Rigby Sr. He and their son Richard preceded her in death.
Survivors include three children: Dr. Lee Rigby (Terri) of Ypsilanti Township, Michigan, Dr. Dean Rigby (June) of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Dr. Joel Rigby (Vicki) of Tupelo, Mississippi; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters: LeAnnice Asher of Picayune, Mississippi, and Joycielyn Nameth (Phillip) of Carriere, Mississippi; and brothers: Joseph L. Asher, Sr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Richard L. Asher (Carolyn) of Picayune, Mississippi.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at McDonald Funeral Chapel, 401 West Canal in Picayune, MS. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the No Kill Animal Shelter, Animal Welfare Alliance of Southeast Missouri, P. O. Box 647, Poplar Bluff, MO 63902.
