Just last month, a little bit of history was handed down to the Pearl River County Library System.

Pearl River County resident Mike Fitzwilliam donated a book in November entitled “Atlas of Indian Nations”, with an accompanying map, to the Crosby Library in Picayune.

Fitzwilliam first bought the book from the National Geographic after becoming aware that several members of the Pearl River County Genealogy Club had Native American ancestry.

“This book was designed to help patrons of the library understand Native American heritage,” he wrote in an e-mail to the Picayune Item. Adding, “I thought it would be a good resource, not only for them [Native Americans] but for others.”

The Crosby Library will house the book and map for all Pearl County residents to check out.
