The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department worked some cases that led to the arrest of several suspects.
Sheriff David Allison said the first case began on Aug. 29, when narcotics detectives assisted Drug Court officers with finding a suspect wanted by their office.
They arrived at the home, 653 Derby Whitesand Rd., to find 36-year-old Wallace O. Stogner standing outside, who ran into the home upon seeing law enforcement vehicles pull up, Allison said.
Officers then surrounded the home and found that Stogner was attempting to flee out of the back door and was chased back inside. Allison said once inside the officers detected an odor commonly associated with burning marijuana.
In all, five people were found to be living in the home, Allison said.
After securing the home it was searched for contraband. Allison said as a result of that search 48-year-old Della McIntyre was found to be in possession of 41 and a quarter Adderall pills, 36 Soboxone pills, a homemade marijuana pipe and methamphetamine paraphernalia, leading her to be charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
Wallace C. Stogner, 59, and 52-year-old Debra Walker were also found to possess paraphernalia indicative of methamphetamine use, Allison said, leading each to be charged with possession of paraphernalia.
Wallace O. Stogner and 32-year-old Crystal Duensing were found to possess some marijuana roaches and a pill of soma, leading them to be charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, Allison said.
On Sept. 13, at about 1:31 a.m. narcotics detectives worked another case after they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the operator of a motorcycle when it was determined not to have a tag, Allison said.
The driver of the vehicle fled instead of pulling over, prompting a chase onto Indian Ridge Road where the motorcycle operator lost control.
Allison said after the crash the detectives saw the operator, later identified as 30-year-old Chad L. Hill of 2205 Millswood Rd., run to a nearby bush and attempt to discard a brown bag.
Once Hill was taken into custody the bag was recovered and found to contain an RG Smith and Wesson .32 caliber revolver, leading him to be charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in addition to the driving charges of reckless driving, failure to yield to blue lights and sirens, no driver’s license, no insurance, no tag, disorderly conduct and improper passing.
Allison said Hill was not severely injured in the accident.
