On Wednesday, a Picayune resident and business owner was arrested by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department for prohibited activities and illegal business referrals.
Thirty-six-year-old Jessica Billiot is the owner of Available Anytime Bail Bonds on Rolling Oaks Drive, Hancock County Chief Investigator Glenn Grannan said.
“We uncovered evidence of a connection Billiot had with one of our inmates,” Grannan said. “He was soliciting other inmates inside the facility to utilize her business.”
Grannan said that when Billiot bonded those people out, she placed money in the inmate’s commissary account.
Billiot was held on a $10,000 bond and has since bonded out, Grannan said.
According to Mississippi Code 83-39-30, if convicted, Billiot may be subjected to imprisonment, a fine of no more than $50,000 and a permanent revocation of her bonding license and would be unable to be involved in any bail bonding business.
