Two Louisiana women were arrested at a Picayune McDonald’s for public drunk, while a separate case involved a man assaulting a corrections officer while being booked into the jail on a DUI charge.

Picayune Police officers were sent to the local restaurant on Sept. 15 at about 9:20 a.m. after receiving complaints that two women in the business appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance, Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said.

The officers arrived to find the two women, later identified as 40-year-old Stephanie Faciane and 57-year-old Barbara True both of 8821 27th St., Metarie La., exhibiting signs of intoxication. The complainant informed the officers that when the women attempted to order food their speech was slurred and they struggled to keep their balance.

Both women were located in the store, one of which had her eyes shut, and asked to step outside to speak with the officer. Magri said the officer noticed they had to use tables and chairs in the business to keep their balance as they exited.

As the women provided their identification, the officer noticed prescription medication in their purses, which were later secured and searched. Magri said Faciane’s purse contained more than 20 oxycodone pills while True’s purse contained oxycodone and Xanax.

Neither suspect was able to provide a prescription for either controlled medication, leading them to be charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and public drunk, Magri said.

On Sept. 12 at about 8:30 p.m., as officers were booking 70-year-old Raymond Rodgers of 41 Hardy Williams Rd., into the jail on a DUI charge he struck a corrections officer using a balled up fist. Magri said the assault occurred as the officer was attempting to remove the handcuffs as part of the booking procedure. As the cuffs were removed Rodgers swung at the officer, hitting him in the right cheek with his fist.

The officer called for backup and a struggle ensued until another officer arrived to provide assistance.

Magri said after Rodgers was brought under control he was booked and additionally charged with felony assault on a police officer.
