Make the most of your time here on Earth

The loss of a former co-worker over the weekend got me thinking about how life has a way of reminding us how short our time really is on this Earth.

As many of you are aware, former Picayune Item reporter and Poplarville Democrat editor David Farrell passed away this weekend while doing what he loved to do, cover the news.

Life is a short ride through a series of mostly expected, but also a number of unexpected events. At times we may take our life for granted and fail to see that it is fleeting.

During my time working across the aisle, David told many stories of his diverse background, from his time spent overseas serving with our nation’s military during the Vietnam War, working at newspapers in the Jackson and Picayune areas and his time driving semi trucks across this great nation.

From the stories he shared I could tell that he lived a full life and he enjoyed his time while he was on this Earth. For the most part he kept a positive attitude towards life, and always had a funny story to tell.

With that in mind we should strive to make the most of each moment in our lives, and enjoy the time we have.

For some, people waste their time focusing on the negative things going on their lives and forget to pay attention to the positive.

If there is a goal you want to achieve but have not yet, keep in mind you can accomplish those things if you are willing to put in some hard work and dedication.

David, I know I am not the only one who will miss seeing you around the city of Picayune.
