Funeral Services for Joel Carl Bennett, 78 of Picayune, MS, who passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014, will be held Sunday, September 21, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at Resurrection Life Worship Center.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at McDonald Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Turtleskin Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Rev. Allen Hickman will officiate the service, assisted by Rev. Dan Finley and Shad Kennedy.

A native of Pearl River County, MS, he was an Appliance Technician. Joel was employed at Thigpen Hardware for 43 years. He was a member of Resurrection Life Worship Center. Joel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be truly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos Joel Bennett and Flora Thigpen Bennett Pittman; and his brothers, Huey Bennett, Lester Bennett, and Wayne Bennett.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ruth Charlene Harvey Bennett; his children, Joel Duane Bennett and wife Amiee, and Amy Jo Bennett Champagne and husband Charles; 6 grandchildren, Emily Bennett, Adam McCoy, Aaron McCoy, Lainie Jo Champagne, Camden Michael Champagne, and Remy Lorenne Champagne; his sisters and brothers, Marilyn Mitchell, Shirley Jarrell, Mary Ann Shehane and husband Joe, Bobbie Nell Bennett, Burl “Buddy” Bennett and wife Ginger, Earl Bennett and Janis, Linda Kennedy and husband Ronnie, and Houston Pittman and wife Deborah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
