A runoff for the vacant seat on the Poplarville Board of Aldermen will have to be held.

Unofficial results from Tuesday’s election show that no candidate received 50 percent plus one vote of the popular vote.

Four candidates faced off for the seat, vacated by former alderman Randy Brown after an Attorney General’s opinion found that his service on the Board of Aldermen was a conflict of interest due to his employment as a law officer with the Biloxi Police Department.

The candidates that received the most votes include Stephanie Bounds with 143 votes, or 35 percent, and David Glenn Bolin with 106 votes, or 26 percent.

Candidates Nicole Brown received 82 votes, or 20 percent while Michael A. O’Quin received 75 votes or 18 percent. Percentages are rounded to the nearest point. The runoff will be held Sept. 9 between Bounds and Bolin.
