A Picayune man died in a single vehicle accident Sunday morning.

Pearl River County Deputy Coroner Albert Lee said the accident was reported at 1:05 that morning.

Emergency personnel arrived to the scene on Miss. 43 S., near the Goodyear Baptist Church to find the vehicle had left the road, and that 30-year-old John Berry of Picayune had died at the scene.

Lee said initial investigation into the accident showed that, for an unknown reason, Berry’s vehicle left the road, struck a dirt embankment and rolled several times.

At some point during the accident Berry was ejected from the vehicle, Lee said.

Monday morning an autopsy was being conducted to determine Berry’s cause of death, Lee said.
