Luther A. Whitehead, Jr. went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at his residence. There he will be with all his love ones who have gone on before to his haven of rest. His love for his family always came first, he simply idolized his grand and great grandchildren. He was a very good father and husband.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Picayune Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Johnson and Bro. Ronald Bear officiating. Burial will be at White Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.

Mr. Whitehead was a resident of Pearl River County for almost 50 years, and a member of Faith Chapel Church of God. He was with Picayune Police Department for eleven years, a city carrier for the U.S. Post Office, and a Veteran of the National Guard.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Norma Jean Kahl Whitehead of Carriere; daughters, Pamela (Bill) Dossett of Carriere, and Deborah (Gary) Murchison of Poplarville; sisters, Sandra Landry of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Judith Robin Miller of Jackson, Alabama; five grandchildren, Tommy, Jesse, Holly, Heidi, and Lane; and eight great-grandchildren, Missy, Austin, Spencer, Savannah, Joshua, Will, Parker, and Abby.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Ruby Whitehead; and sister, Eva Gaye King.
