A boating accident at the weir on the Pearl River ended with a Mississippi man drowning.

Sgt. Sean Beavers with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department said the department responded to a call of two individuals flipping a boat at the weir on Saturday.

They arrived to find only one of the two men had resurfaced, the second, a 45-year-old Mississippi man, did not, Beavers said.

The sheriff’s department and Wildlife and Fisheries personnel searched for the missing man all day on Saturday, Sunday and in the morning on Monday when they found a body at 7:45 a.m., Beavers said.

St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s office personnel are working to determine the identity and cause of death of the man they found and will make notification to next of kin when that investigation is complete, Beavers said.
