This Friday there will be several Fourth of July events that will feature food, festivities and of course fireworks.

One of those events will be the annual fireworks show in McNeill, which is a fundraiser for the McNeill Volunteer Fire Department.

Chief Donny Leonard Sr. said the event will begin at 3 p.m. where drinks, hotdogs, hamburgers and nachos will be sold to raise funds for the department.

Then at dark, the fireworks show will begin. Leonard said the show will last about 20 minutes. Huey Stockstill donated some funding for the fireworks display, Leonard said.

After the show the department will hold a boot shake to help cover the rest of the cost to put on the display.

“I would like to thank everyone in the fire district for their continued support,” Leonard said.

A Fourth of July Celebration will be held in northern Hancock County at the Necaise Crossing ball park, which is located near the intersection of Highway 603 and 53. The event is hosted by Crane Creek Baptist Church and will feature Christian music and fireworks. The event is free, and concessions will be provided

In northern Pearl River County, the Hillsdale Property Owner’s Association will hold a fireworks celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will offer food and fireworks. Members of the homeowner’s association can attend for free, non-members can attend for $5, and their children ages 10 and younger can attend for $2.

Hide-A-Way Lake in Carriere also has an annual fireworks display, but the subdivision is a gated community. Residents and their families can enjoy a boat parade beginning at 6 p.m. and the fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.
