Baseball, softball field concession stands broken into multiple times

Investigators with the Picayune Police Department are investigating several incidents of concession stands at the Picayune School District’s baseball and girls’ softball fields being burglarized.

Captain Lane Pittman with the said several buildings were broken into and food items and ball field equipment were taken.

Authorities said they believe the suspects made entry on at least three or four different occasions beginning last Sunday night.

“We received the first call on Monday morning from girls’ softball coach Kristi Mitchell,” Pittman said. “Then, two more calls on Tuesday and Thursday.”

Mitchell takes care of the ball fields, Pittman said.

Pittman said the department is looking into every avenue to establish suspects in these crimes.

“Without the public, we don’t have anything,” Pittman said.

“We are only as good as the public we serve.”
