Linda "Lynn" Louise Graves CLR

Sis. Linda Louise Graves left this world and her physical body an was translated into a glorified body free of illness and pain on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the age of 62.

She was born on May 14, 1951 to the late Ms. Nancy Mae Moran and Mr. Lott W. Rogers Sr. and was known to all as “Lynn”. She grew up in a small community in Lumberton, Miss. and as a youth joined the Morning Star Baptist Church where she accepted Christ and learned to love and trust in the Lord.

She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Jimmy L. Graves on March 31, 1967 and moved to McNeil, Miss. They were blessed with five children during their 47-year union. While a resident of McNeil, she joined the Little Zion Travelers Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Alex Holloway and actively served as a member of the Ladies Mission Auxiliary and as a member of the Choir. Her favorite scripture was Isaiah 54:17, which states: “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.”

Lynn was a kind-hearted person, with a giving spirit, and a humorous personality.

She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Mrs. Nancy Mae & Mr. James Cooper, two sisters: Lydia “Duke” Cooper & Karen Rogers and two-grandchildren: Matthew Graves Jr. & Zekeria Michelle McCann .

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Jimmy “J.L.” Graves, her father, Mr. Lott Rogers Sr. (Allean) of Laurel and mother-in-law, Mrs. Helen Jefferson of McNeil. One uncle, Mr. Hiram (Bridgette) Wilcox. Her children: Gerald (Jacklyn) Graves, Melissa (Keith) Clark, LaWanda Graves, Jimmy Graves ,Jr., and Matthew Graves, all of Picayune.

Sisters: Jessie (Ellise) Haralson of Kansas, Mo., Martha (Charles) Gray, & Gloria (David) Tatum of Purvis, Patricia Cooper of Picayune, Mary (Lavelle) Moore and Fabia (Keith) Arrington of Laurel, Renita (Charles) Taylor, Vonnette (Richard) Stone of Hattiesburg, and Sylvia Redman of New Orleans; Brothers: James Cooper Jr. and Dwight Cooper of Picayune, Dorsey (Michelle) Cooper of Huntsville, Ala., Paris Cooper of Purvis, Kennith (Lorraine) Rogers, Keith Rogers, Kelvin (Tina) Rogers, Wesley (Shemika) Rogers, Lott (Debra) Rogers, Jr. of Laurel, Karl (Lashundralynn) Rogers of Buckatonna, Miss. and Sean (Rose) Rogers of Columbus, Ohio. 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends will also share fond memories of “Lynn”.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Outreach Ministries in Picayune. Rev. Austin Clark will officiate at the services. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Interment will be in the McNeil Cemetery. Entrusted to Browns Funeral Home.
