Graveside Services for Martha Jean Harper, 65, of Carriere, Miss., who passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 in Carriere, Miss.,  will be held Sunday, April 27, 2014, at 2 p.m. at New Palestine Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.

Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Bro. Dan Pullens will officiate at the service.

A native of Lake Charles, La., she was a Certified Nursing Assistant and a member of New Testament Baptist Church. Martha was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved gardening and cooking for her family. She was the backbone of her family and they knew they could always count on her to be there for them no matter what the circumstance.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, William Otis Sanders and Fannie Gilliland Sanders; her two brothers, Louis Sanders and David Sanders.

Survivors include: her husband, Clifton “Cliff” L. Harper; her five sons: Jason C. Harper and wife Jennifer, Matthew L. Harper and wife Alycia, Andrew A. Harper and wife Cynthia, Pierre W. Abshire and wife Dana, Karlan M. Abshire and wife Nina; her daughter, Rebecca Anne Harper and husband Jeremy; her 13 grandchildren: Jasmine, Amber, Dannie, Tabitha, Katlynn, Tristin, Aubrey, Charlie, Karlan, Shay Pierre, Victoria, Isaac, and Evan; her three sisters, Nina, Betty, and Mary; her two brothers, Billy and Michael; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Justine Bennett.
