Funeral services for Edward Louis Parker, 65, of Picayune, who passed away April 26, 2014 will be held Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church.  Pastor Delbert Hall will officiate.

Edward Louis Parker was born August 22, 1948 in Picayune, Miss., to Mrs. Katie Mae Beck Dees and the late Lindsey Parker.  He grew up in the home with his nine siblings.

Edward Louis joined Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the Late Rev. R.W. Woullard. Edward Louis Parker received his formal education in Picayune Schools, graduating from George Washington Carver High School in 1966. He joined the Army in January 1969. He received the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Bronze Star Air Medal. Edward Louis Parker furthered his education at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. Residents throughout Mississippi and Louisiana can attest to Edward’s humble spirit, his caring and giving ways were exemplified as he used his plumbing/construction skills to contribute to his community.

Edward Louis Parker departed his life with his son, Jeremiah Eli Cooper Parker, and a very special lady Nancy “ Lacey” Cooper on Saturday, April 26, 2014. He was preceded in death by: his father, the Rev. Lindsey Parker, his grandson; Devin Stewart; his sisters; Shirley Dees McCaskill and Mamie Rae Dees; his brothers, the Rev. Dr. Alonzo Dees, Walter Dees, A.C. Parker, L.C. Parker, and Arthur James Parker; a favorite brother-in-law, Deacon Sidney B. Ducre’.

He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Sabrena (Eric) Hamilton, three grandchildren; Derionne Stewart, Janai Whitehead, & DaMarion Whitehead; His loving mother, Mrs. Katie Mae Beck Dees; loving siblings, Alice Ruth Dees, Calvin (Angel) Dees, Paul (Lorene) Dees, Willie Earl (Gladys) Dees, Pearl Ducre’, Evelyn Parker & Martha Jane Parker; one sister-in-law, Ruth Evelyn Dees; A very special person, Alberta Haralson Parker (Momma Bert), a very special nephew, Eric Parker; a special friend, James Walter Jones (Dope); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.  Burial will be in Biloxi VA National Cemetery.
