The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department arrested a suspect involved in a hit and run incident that took place Thursday afternoon.

The sheriff’s department responded to the call at 3:08 p.m. on Thursday at Carey Meitzler Road, said Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Shane Tucker.

A 1996 gold GMC Sierra hit a school bus carrying 27 children between the ages of 5 and 10 and 1 adult, Tucker said.

Four of the children were transported to Highland Community Hospital with minor injuries as a precautionary measure, Tucker said.

He said the bus was hit from behind, but sustained no damage. Based on information from the bus driver and children on the bus, the sheriff’s department was able to locate the truck involved in the incident at Brandi Henricks’ residence at 112 Jordan McQueen Rd, Tucker said.

Henricks, 28, was arrested at her home and charged with possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana, DUI 2nd offense, following too close, leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance and an expired tag.

Tucker said a DUI officer conducted a field sobriety test at her residence.

When officers made contact with Henricks, she denied being involved, but it was evident from her truck that she was involved in the accident, Tucker said.

Marijuana and controlled substances were found inside Henricks’ house, leading to the possession charges, Tucker said.

He said Henricks was released on a $5,500 cash bond on Friday.
