A third suspect has been charged in response to three fires that occurred Monday night.

Picayune Police assistant to the chief of police Jeremy Magri said the third suspect was arrested Wednesday afternoon on three counts of arson and has been identified as a 13-year-old female juvenile.

Two 15-year-old male juveniles were charged earlier this week in relation to the fires that occurred Monday night, according to a previous story in the Item.

Monday’s arsons include a fire at Friendship Park’s gazebo at 10:50 p.m., a fire in a dumpster behind Regions Bank at 11:39 p.m. and a fire at an unoccupied apartment building at 1:20 a.m.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fires since the affected structures were unoccupied.

Magri said, under the juvenile system, the punishment for conviction of arson can range from probation to a sentence at Oakley Youth Development Center in Raymond. Each judge determines the actual sentence, Magri said.
